Assistant Director of Marketing, UTC Athletics
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is seeking an Assistant Director of Marketing for its Athletics Department. This role involves developing and executing marketing plans, enhancing fan experiences, and overseeing game day marketing efforts to increase attendance and revenue for UTC Athletics.
Responsibilities
Develops and executes annual marketing plans for all assigned sports/events, and leads efforts on the communication of these plans within the department
Creates and implements marketing strategies to help increase attendance and revenue for UTC Athletics, as well as enhances the fan experience and gameday atmosphere for home contests
Oversees and leads Mocs game day marketing efforts for assigned sports, including but not limited to: operation of music, leading in-game promotions, serving as main contact for halftime entertainment and National Anthem singers, distribution of giveaway items, oversight of gameday marketing interns, and working with public address announcers and creative services to create a high-energy game day environment for fans and student-athletes
Assists with set-up and operation of all fan experience areas at Mocs Football and Men's Basketball games, to include but not limited to: The Party in the Pavilion, Scrappy's Kid Zone, etc
Utilizes email marketing strategies to provide improved customer service and communication
Assists with marketing efforts to design and implement social media strategies that increase awareness of, and engagement with UTC Athletics
Assists with the oversight of student volunteers/interns for athletics marketing and promotions
Develops event scripts for assigned home contests and assist with various gameday functions for assigned sports
Provides oversight of the Scrappy's Kids Club and the official kids club of the Chattanooga Mocs
Assists with fulfillment of sold inventory by Mocs Sports Properties, the 3rd Party Multimedia Rights Holder for UTC Athletics
Assists with marketing efforts for the Southern Conference and the NCAA Championship events hosted by UTC
Assists with community outreach and assist in working all community events
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field
2 years of relevant experience in collegiate athletics or related field, specifically in the areas of marketing and promotions, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Ability to work under pressure, multitask, and meet deadlines
Ability to maintain positive relationships with external and internal constituencies and provide excellent customer service
Must have strong communications skills, both oral and written
Must have working knowledge of MS software (I.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Preferred
A master's degree
3+ years' experience within the Southern Conference and current knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations is preferred
Experience with design software preferred (i.e. Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
Experience working with and knowledge of CRM, Email Marketing software preferred; (I.e. Salesforce, Paciolan, and Oracle Eloqua)
Experience in the collegiate environment
Familiarity with Southern Conference and NCAA rules and regulations
