Actuarial Data Manager

Assisting with architecture development and monitoring of corporate data (EDW)
Assisting with reserving, trend setting, and financial forecasting

Required

6+ years related work experience. Experience Details: managed care/health insurance industry experience
3+ years' direct supervisory/management experience
Related Bachelor's degree or additional related equivalent work experience
Strong background in SAS, SQL, mainframe, and Unix
Ability to provide technical guidance and training to other members of the Actuarial Department
Ability to lead analysis teams or projects
Demonstrated working knowledge of major BCBSF information systems (financial, payment claims, enrollment, income and their interrelationships)
Proficiency in testing and validation of analyses
Experience with developing financial analytical techniques (e.g., IBNR setting or predictive modeling)
Experience with provider payment strategies (e.g., capitation, care network, arrangements, DRG reimbursement)
Established interpersonal skills and professionalism
Demonstrated proficiency in software (regardless of hardware platform) to include spreadsheet, word processing products, data base manager products, user development/corporate production programs and applications
Proven ability to solve problems creatively and in a team-based environment
Proven ability to engage upper management (Directors, Vice-Presidents) on information-critical issues
Proven ability to influence data architecture decisions regarding the sourcing of, data modeling, and final design of Enterprise-wide Information
Proven ability to engage external information companies to create benchmarking information, and research and develop new methods and tools for analysis
