The County of San Diego is currently recruiting for an Information Technology Engineer specializing in Application Development & Support. This role involves designing, developing, analyzing, implementing, and maintaining software and hardware systems for various County departments, with opportunities for increased autonomy as experience is gained.

Responsibilities

Designing, developing, analyzing, implementing, and maintaining software, hardware and multi-level systems for designated County departments

Perform work under less supervision and will be given greater autonomy to perform difficult and complex IT projects

Required

An associate's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in computer science, information systems, or related field; AND, two (2) years of recent professional level experience designing, developing, analyzing, supporting, and implementing software programs; OR

Four (4) years of recent professional-level experience designing, developing, analyzing, supporting, and implementing complex software programs

Recent work experience is defined as work experience within the past ten (10) years

Additional years of directly related verifiable experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis

Experience in selling, using, or operating a microcomputer or word processor is not qualifying

Must have a reputation for honesty and trustworthiness

Felony convictions will be disqualifying

Misdemeanor convictions may be disqualifying depending on type, number, severity, and recency
