Principal Campus Counsel - Transactions & Contracts
UCLA is seeking a Principal Campus Counsel to provide legal advice on various issues related to the administration and operation of the university. The role involves advising on business transactions, commercial contracts, and intellectual property matters, while coordinating with the Office of General Counsel.

Responsibilities
Provide legal advice on the wide range of issues associated with the administration, management and operation of UCLA, including but not limited to business transactional advice, commercial contracts research and grant matters, and international activities
Advise the campus on patent, copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property matters, including intellectual property-related commercialization, collaborations, transactions, enforcement, policy, consultations, and dispute resolution
Qualification
Required
Current, or eligibility for immediate, membership in the California State Bar Association required
Experience in matters relevant to business transactions, state and federal contracts, and intellectual property
Excellent writing abilities including for correspondence, memos, and court filings, internal and external communications to a variety of audiences
Demonstrated effective oral communication skills
Demonstrated prowess in strategic thinking, organization, analysis and problem-solving
Demonstrated ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with senior administrators and a diverse range of constituents
Demonstrated ability in setting priorities, juggling multiple tasks, and completing work in a timely manner
A workplace style that emphasizes collaboration, teamwork, and facilitation
Readily and regularly professionally accessible to the Vice Chancellor, Legal Affairs, and campus clients
Ability and willingness to use standard computer software applications, including Word, Excel, email programs, Internet browsers, on-line legal research, and programs adopted by UCLA and the Office of General Counsel to track and organize matters and work product
Juris Doctor (JD) Degree from an ABA accredited institution and active membership in good standing of the State Bar of California (or eligible for immediate membership)
Must be a member in good standing of the California Bar (or eligible for immediate membership)
Preferred
Experience in research, federal regulation compliance, complex contracts, risk management and litigation processes
Experience in employment law and higher education law
Experience with complex organizations and the management of significant legal issues
Knowledge of University or higher education policies and procedures
Knowledge of legal issues associated with governmental/public entities
