They are seeking an intern for the Office of Policy, Planning, and Programs to assist with policy management, strategic planning, and program analysis related to public safety initiatives.

Responsibilities

Complete assignments to advance task force initiatives/advisory council initiatives forward
Provide administrative, logistical, and analytical support to DPS task forces on various public safety topics
Participate in special projects, including research assignments to support DPS task force and advisory councils

Required

A college transcript is required to determine eligibility
The selected intern will be required to provide a letter of recommendation from a professional reference or academic advisor/professor before being hired
Applicants should possess Microsoft skills including Word, Excel, Power Point, Webex, and Teams
This internship requires the ability to research criminal justice programs and initiatives across the nation and provide a report of results
All work history and education (including accurate dates of employment/attendance) must be documented on the application

Interns must submit to a background check and fingerprinting or consent to agency onboarding requirements
Transcripts are required to determine eligibility for this internship
Applicants who earned college credit hours but did not complete a degree program must attach an unofficial transcript to receive credit
International degrees and transcripts must be evaluated for accreditation by a recognized evaluation service by the closing date of this posting
Applicants seeking Veteran's Preference must attach a DD-214 Form
Applicants seeking National Guard Preference must attach a NGB 23A (RPAS) or a DD256 or NGB 22

Preferred

Must be currently enrolled in college or a recent college graduate
Must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree (or a recent graduate) in Criminal Justice, Policy, Public Administration or related field
