Summer Camp Intern
Queen Academy, Inc. is a faith-based non-profit organization dedicated to empowering young women in Georgia's foster care system and alternative education settings. They are seeking Summer Camp Interns to assist in planning, facilitating, and evaluating camp activities focused on STEAM education, life skills, and financial literacy. Interns will mentor participants and support their project-based learning, helping them develop skills for personal and academic success.
Responsibilities
Lead and co-facilitate workshops and sessions on STEAM topics, life skills, financial literacy, project-based learning, and enrichment activities
Help develop interactive and hands-on activities to engage participants in meaningful learning experiences
Build supportive relationships with camp participants, offering mentorship, encouragement, and guidance
Assist with project-based learning, guiding students as they research and develop business ideas for their entrepreneurship projects
Encourage participants to develop self-confidence, resilience, and leadership skills
Assist students in project planning, development, and completion, supporting them as they present their work to stakeholders
Help students brainstorm, conduct research, and manage time and resources for their projects
Work closely with camp staff to coordinate schedules, activities, and program logistics
Participate in staff meetings to discuss daily progress, address challenges, and celebrate successes
Document students’ progress, collect feedback, and contribute to evaluation efforts to help measure the camp’s impact
Support post-camp follow-up and reporting efforts to capture successful outcomes
Qualification
Required
Pursuing a degree in Education, ideally with an interest in STEAM, child development, or secondary education
Pursuing a degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field, with a focus on youth services, trauma-informed care, or community development
Ability to engage, motivate, and empathize with young people, especially those in vulnerable situations
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Reliable, punctual, and committed to fostering a safe and inclusive environment
Comfortable working in a faith-based setting with elements of spiritual development
Preferred
Previous experience working with youth in educational or camp settings
