Engineering Technician
Solvere Technical Group is looking for an Engineering Technician VI who will provide engineering and technical support services for various navigation systems and associated equipment onboard U.S. and FMS Navy ships. The role involves planning and conducting experiments, designing specifications, and potentially supervising lower-level technicians.

Responsibilities
Shall provide engineering and technical support services for the design, repair, refurbishment, maintenance of navigation systems, speed sensors, heading sensors, navigation data distribution systems, precision timing, direction systems, ship steering systems and all other associated equipment installed onboard U.S. and FMS Navy ships and shore-based installations
Provide support for the sensor inputs for water speed, depth, wind speed and direction, air temperature, barometric pressure, relative humidity as well as engine sensors and indicators, automatic piloting and steering systems and automatic identification systems
Prepares designs and specifications for various complex equipment or systems (e.g., a heating system in an office building, or new electronic components such as solid state devices for instrumentation equipment)
Plans approach to solve design problems; conceives and recommends new design techniques
Resolves design problems with contract personnel, and assures compatibility of design with other parts of the system
Designs and coordinates test set-ups and experiments to prove or disprove the feasibility of preliminary design
Uses untried and untested measurement techniques; and improves the performance of the equipment
May advise equipment users on redesign to solve unique operational deficiencies
Plans approach and conduct various experiments to develop equipment or systems characterized by (a) difficult performance requirements because of conflicting attributes such as versatility, size, and ease of operation; or (b) unusual combination of techniques or components
Arranges for fabrication of pilot models and determines test procedures and design of special test equipment
Individual shall be capable of independently planning and accomplishing complete projects or studies of broad scope and complexity, or serving as an expert in a narrow aspect of a particular field of engineering, e.g., environmental factors affecting electronic engineering
Individual may supervise or train and be assisted by lower-level technicians. Completed work is reviewed for compliance with overall project objectives
Qualification
Required
Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology, math, or science; or
Formal electronics training from: Technical School, or
Class A or B military school in electronics or communications; or
Four-year electronics apprentice program; or
High School diploma or GED
Twelve (12) years with degree/formal training or fourteen (14) years with HS/GED of practical experience to include: design, preparation and modification of engineering documents, and drawings

Ten (10) years of experience to include installation of US Navy Electronics
Ten (10) years of experience working with US Navy Navigation Systems, of which seven (7) must have been performed within the last nine (9) years
Secret Clearance is required
