Local Law Student-Paid Intern

Harris County Attorney's Office is seeking local law students for a paid internship opportunity. Interns will work directly with experienced trial attorneys, assisting with various duties such as victim and witness interviews, trial preparation, and court observations.

Law Practice

Responsibilities

Victim and witness interviews
Assistance with formal plea procedures
Trial preparation
Research and writing
Assistance with jury selection and jury trials
Accompany prosecutors to court to observe and help with court dockets, hearings, and trials
Complete additional assignments, specific projects, or observations as prescribed by their school or professors

Required

Local Houston, Texas law students only
Can work a minimum of 20 hours per week and a maximum of 25 hours per week
Willing to work at least a semester or two with HCDAO
Subject to a full background investigation
Ability to assist attorneys with a wide range of duties including victim and witness interviews, assistance with formal plea procedures, trial preparation, research and writing, and assistance with jury selection and jury trials
Ability to observe and help with court dockets, hearings, and trials
