Manager of Engineering

Rapides Regional Medical Center is a 350+ bed hospital and ER in Alexandria, Louisiana, dedicated to community health and patient care. As the Manager of Engineering, you will oversee the Engineering Department's daily operations, manage staff resources, and coordinate hospital renovations and maintenance projects.

Responsibilities

Perform diverse duties which include coordinating, working with, and assisting the employees of the Engineering Department
Be responsible for the daily operation of the Engineering Department
Implement the hospital mission, goals and objectives by establishing and directing the short- and long-term vision, values and goals of the department
Assist the Director in the duties of managing the department’s quality assurance, education, proficiency testing, competency validation, safety and other administrative functions toward the attainment of these goals
Be available at all times for consultative and/or immediate callback, or make appropriate substitute arrangements when not accessible
Assist in scheduling appropriate coverage when needed
Assist Director in managing staff resources with minimal overtime
Assist Director in coordinating all new employee orientation
Manage, supervise and assign the work of the Engineering employees regarding electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, HVAC, mechanical and general maintenance
Be involved in and assist in Capital and Operating Budget for the Engineering Department
Coordinate and assist hospital renovations and new construction projects
Manage and supervise the TMA work order system and Preventive Maintenance Programs
Manage manpower, workload and overtime in the department
Be involved in purchase of material and equipment for the Medical Center and Engineering Department
Work with JCAHO and Louisiana State Fire Marshal inspections and regulations

Required

HVAC Technician
Work experience in lieu of degree
Background in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry
Previous supervision experience

Preferred

Comprehensive knowledge of procedures, policies and equipment
Ability to identify and analyze problems, feasible effective solutions and implement optimum courses of action
Ability to work independently and complete projects in a timely manner
Ability to write clear and concise procedures and policies
