Nine PBS is a community-licensed public media station dedicated to providing trusted content and resources to the St. Louis community. They are seeking a passionate producer to create high-quality stories for both broadcast and digital platforms, focusing on impactful storytelling that resonates with local audiences.

Responsibilities

Produce compelling stories for digital-first platforms (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and Facebook) and for broadcast programs and specials airing on Nine PBS
Shoot and edit videos for digital-first platforms (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook) and direct shooters and editors for broadcast programs and specials airing on Nine PBS
Research, report, and write stories that reflect the voices and issues of the St. Louis region
Interview individuals in studio and field settings, ensuring accuracy and context
Create short-form edits from long-form projects for social media
Develop content optimized for social media platforms, including providing strong metadata and SEO optimized titles and descriptions
Work with the content team to review performance and adapt strategies based on community feedback and trends
Collaborate effortlessly with other media outlets, reporters, freelance talent, community leaders, and organizations, sharing responsibilities to build stories to their full potential
Engage and attend community events or forums to stay connected to local stories
Pitch creative ideas for new projects and social content
Support Nine PBS programs and specials when extra help is needed
Perform duties that require flexibility and provide assistance as needed
Work closely with other producers and departments to share and accept ideas and feedback
Add simple animations like opens/closes, lower thirds, and chyrons to enhance video quality

Required

Bachelor's Degree preferred with 2 years of experience, or associate's degree with more than 3+ years of experience in production, communications, multimedia, or other fields
Strong storytelling fundamentals: researching, writing, directing, and interviewing
Experience creating video content for social media and broadcast
High comfort level on camera for interviews or hosting segments
Ability to operate cameras for single and two-camera shoots and interviews
Familiarity with lighting setups for interviews and field shoots
Proficient in editing software such as Final Cut, Adobe Premiere or DaVinci Resolve
Knowledge of TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube best practices
Organized and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Familiarity with project management tools such as Monday.com or similar platforms for planning and tracking tasks
Must submit link to your website or reel showcasing your work
