Jacksonville State University is seeking a University Student Assistant for the WLJS Music Director position for the Fall 2026 - Spring 2027 term. The music director will assist in planning, managing, and supervising the content and broadcasting of WLJS-FM, ensuring compliance with music rights and FCC requirements while engaging with the university community.

Maintains confidentiality of information

Helps recruit student staff and volunteer contributors for on-air, online, and social media content

Participates in regular staff meetings to plan WLJS’s programming

Helps arrange and participates in training for student staff, volunteers and others involved in programming and digital content

Meets regularly with the program director and the director of student media to discuss WLJS’s programming and broadcasting

Represents WLJS at public events and professional meetings on campus and off campus

Meets regularly with university administrators, students, faculty, athletic and community groups to discuss and assess the effectiveness of WLJS’s programming

Monitors digital media analytics to gauge WLJS’s effectiveness in reaching its audience
