Principal Engineer

Responsibilities
Assists the 777 Fleet Engineering Sr. Manager in assigning, supporting, training, mentoring and reviewing activities of Engineers
Utilizes high levels of technical expertise and extensive practical experience to disposition highly complex technical concerns
Develops customized procedures and special criteria for repairs, modifications, inspections, servicing and other maintenance actions which are not adequately addressed in existing manuals
Investigates aircraft/component problems which may cause aircraft delays or cancellations, substantial expenditures in manpower or materials, or interruptions in maintenance operations, and determines appropriate corrective actions
Develops action plans for fleet/multi-fleet and/or component engineering projects and pursues final dispositions according to assessed priorities
Maintains knowledge of current and pending regulations, which affect areas of responsibility and ensures that all Engineering actions maintain compliance with applicable regulatory requirements
Utilizes available resources to continually increase levels of technical expertise and practical experience. Also strives to improve communications skills, time management and other personal qualities pertinent to maximum effectiveness and efficiency in performing assigned duties
Cultivates relationships and exchanges information across various Tech Ops Departments including Maintenance Operations Control, Line and Base Maintenance, Supply, Material, Purchasing and Repairs, and support Shops both internal and external
Monitor daily operations and operational trends to identify and resolve items impacting the operation and reliability of the 777 fleet
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
5 years of job related experience in an airline environment
Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office
Understanding of the Lean Six Sigma principles
Ability to multitask in a changing environment
Preferred
Master's Degree in Engineering
10 years of experience in an airline environment
Expert knowledge of specific airplane systems and assemblies
Organizational Designation Authorization
Yellow Belt or higher certification by accredited Lean Six Sigma institution
