HR Coordinator

Responsibilities
Assists with a variety of HR functions, such as recruitment and staffing, employee records, employee relations, compensation, benefits, training, recognition, etc
Utilizes HR systems, process accurate and timely routine compensation and recruitment actions, as well as confidential forms and records pertaining to applications, employment, enrollment, pay changes, and other sensitive HR materials; verifies accuracy of submitted data and ensure policy compliance
Responds to internal and external HR related inquiries or requests and provides assistance
Provides support and guidance on leave policies and procedures, including overtime, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), etc
Administers new hire onboarding and offboarding for separating employees
Assists with HR related communications
Assists with the maintenance of all employee records
Assists in answering employee and manager questions managers regarding annual and probationary performance evaluations
Participates in HR Associate group meetings and trainings
Support Wright Center’s engagement initiatives
Qualification
Required
Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
Associate's degree and 1-3 years relevant professional experience or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training
Outstanding customer service skills and a high degree of professionalism
Ability to adapt to change and ambiguity
Ability to exercise strong attention to detail in a fast paced environment
Ability to meet deadlines, organize workload and juggle changing priorities
Ability to apply policies and procedures for recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, and information systems
Ability to solve problems independently and use available resources
Ability to independently research topics
Knowledge of Human Resources policies and procedures
Excellent oral and written communication in daily interactions
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately and with discretion
Strong team mentality while being able to work independently as needed
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred
1-3 years direct experience working on recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, and transactions
