Stormwater Practice Leader

Responsibilities

Develop and oversee drainage designs for highways, bridges, and transportation corridors
Prepare and review hydrologic and hydraulic models using industry-standard software (e.g., HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, HY-8)
Lead drainage components of large-scale transportation projects from concept through construction
Manage budgets, schedules, and deliverables for drainage-related tasks
Ensure designs meet federal, state, and local stormwater regulations and environmental requirements
Prepare permit applications and coordinate with regulatory agencies
Perform advanced stormwater analysis, detention/retention design, and erosion control planning
Integrate green infrastructure and sustainable drainage practices into designs
Provide guidance and training to junior engineers and technical staff
Collaborate with roadway, structural, and environmental teams to deliver integrated solutions
Occasional travel will be required

Required

A bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited four-year college
Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in drainage and stormwater design for transportation projects
Professional Engineer (PE) license required
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under tight deadlines

Preferred

Master's degree in civil engineering from an accredited four-year college
Certification in stormwater management or related specialty
Proficiency in hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, HY-8)
Strong knowledge of FHWA, AASHTO, and state DOT drainage design standards
Familiarity with GIS applications for drainage analysis
Strong understanding of climate resilience and sustainable stormwater practices
Established relationships with clients in Florida
