Engineering Technician I Apprentice

Responsibilities

Support higher level technicians or engineers in construction inspection, surveying, materials sampling, testing, erosion control, and construction traffic control
Perform a wide variety of standardized and non-standardized tests and assignments in compiling, analyzing, computing, editing, and processing field data
Perform a full range of calculations and computations

Required

High School diploma/General Educational Development diploma
Currently in the process of acquiring an Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Survey/Geomatics Technology or assigned discipline from an appropriately accredited institution
Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle
Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds
Proficient in record keeping and engineering testing equipment

Leadership potential
Interest in transportation e.g. transportation and environmental planning, design, construction and maintenance
Basic knowledge and skills of computer equipment, iPads, and software
Ability to effectively use verbal and nonverbal skills to express routine or simple technical and/or program concepts and related facts in a clear, concise, organized and persuasive manner
Ability to communicate with other staff to ensure that tasks are completed correctly and in a timely manner
