Compliance Technician/Office & Administrative Specialist Senior

The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry is dedicated to ensuring equitable, healthy, and safe work and living environments in Minnesota. They are seeking a Compliance Technician to manage penalty assessments, provide administrative support for the Workers’ Compensation Division, and oversee purchasing and financial coordination for the Compliance, Records, and Training unit.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Verifying, serving, tracking, and reconciling penalty assessments
Coordinating closely with Financial Services to support the collections and payment processes
Providing administrative and technical support to the Workers’ Compensation Division’s Rehabilitation Review Panel (RRP) and Workers’ Compensation Insurers Task Force (WCITF)
Scheduling meetings, preparing and distributing meeting agendas and minutes
Managing board member appointment
Managing meeting room technology
Functioning as the unit purchasing coordinator
Overseeing purchasing activities, budget tracking, and financial coordination for the CRT unit
Performing a variety of office and administrative duties to ensure services are delivered and deadlines are met in accordance with applicable rules and statutes

Required

Knowledge of software applications such as Microsoft Word and Outlook sufficient to compose correspondence and reports; coordinate and schedule meetings and prepare written materials for meeting handouts
Data entry skills sufficient to read source documents and enter data in database and to compile, sort and verify data accuracy before entering it
Database management sufficient to set up and run basic queries, review, and analyze data, and identify problem areas
Customer service skill sufficient to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to stakeholders in person, on the phone and through email and other written correspondence
Skill in math sufficient to complete financial processes such as purchasing, billing, invoicing, refunds and reconciliations
Provide training to others within the work unit on the program policies, procedures, and standards of administrative materials

Preferred

Proficiency in systems and software including Campus, Swift, Microsoft Office Suite and virtual meeting platforms such as WebEx and Teams
Understanding of workers' compensation statutes, legal terminology, department policies and data privacy requirements
Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, including those who may not share your same culture, ethnicity, language, or common experiences
Language skills other than English (such as Somali, Spanish, Hmong, Karen or ASL)
