Part Time Production Site Specialist

Green City Growers is an employee-owned urban farming company dedicated to sustainable food production. They are seeking a Part-Time Production Site Specialist to assist with the cultivation and production of crops, working closely with the Director of Horticulture and other team members.

Farming

Responsibilities

Carry out the production and cultivation of crops for onsite food service concessions in conjunction with GCG’s Director of Horticulture, Production Site Manager, and Full-Time Onsite Production Site Specialist
Implement seasonal crop plans
Maintain yield estimates, harvest records, and other operational data
Carry out organic crop protection and soil management plans
Assist with bed preparation, seeding, transplanting, cultivation, and greenhouse operations
Assist with the harvest, processing, sorting, washing, packing, and delivery of crops (onsite and offsite donation)
Maintain food safety protocols and associated documentation
Maintain, clean, organize, and inventory all onsite infrastructure and equipment
Maximize efficiency and prioritize tasks
Communicate with the Production Site Specialist and onsite clients to answer questions and solve problems directly or through GCG channels
Attend weekly check-in meetings with the Director of Horticulture
Lead garden education programs and conduct onsite farm tours with associates as needed

Required

At least one year of experience in vegetable farming, organic crop production, or professional garden work
Familiarity with organic practices, sustainable agriculture, soil health, and/or local food systems
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Ability to uphold a high level of professionalism and adhere to company standards and policies
Ability to maintain a safe workplace in accordance with company policy
Some administrative experience and comfort using technology such as Microsoft Office and Google Calendar
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional long days and early mornings
Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain
Detail-oriented with a demonstrated commitment to high-quality work
Reliable with good time management skills and the ability to arrive on time for all scheduled shifts
Ability to follow instructions and give and receive feedback
Valid driver's license and ability to get to the site on time for all shifts

Preferred

Experience providing produce to a food service entity is a plus
Experience operating farm machinery including tractors, mowers, sprayers, and tillers preferred
