Administrative and Human Resources Coordinator, Bureau of Communicable Diseases
The NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is dedicated to safeguarding the health of New Yorkers. The Administrative and Human Resources Coordinator will assist with human resources and administrative tasks for the Bureau of Communicable Diseases, engage with community partners, and support public health education initiatives.
Health Care
Responsibilities
Manage incoming telephone inquiries from healthcare providers and the general public
Build and maintain directory of internal agency contacts and community partners
Assist with community outreach, public health education and prevention initiatives
Oversee monthly schedule of staff performing telephone triage of BCD's main telephone number
Perform data entry of disease reports, case investigation, and outbreak data forms into a surveillance database
Liaise with commercial laboratories to ensure specimens are sent to public health laboratories
Compile and prepare materials for mass mailings to healthcare providers and patients
Participate in special projects - assist BCD staff, as assigned
Qualification
Required
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
Education and/or experience which is equivalent to '1' or '2' above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in '1' above
Good writing and verbal communication skills
Strong typing skills with speed and accuracy
Proficient with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
