TCEQ - Engineering Specialist I (STATEWIDE)

Texas Commission on Environmental Quality is an environmental state agency dedicated to protecting public health and natural resources. They are seeking an Engineering Specialist I to contribute to the Air Monitoring Division by compiling and validating air quality data, processing reports, and maintaining site information.

Responsibilities

Compile, review, and validate ambient air quality data measured at air monitoring stations throughout Texas; assist in the review and identification of air quality data problems; communicate with staff, contractors, and field operators on resolving problems with ambient air data quality
Process, verify and prepare reports of ambient air pollutant measurements and quality control data for transfer to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and agency databases
Maintain site file information using the Texas Air Monitoring Information System (TAMIS)
Summarize and/or provide air quality data and related information for agency staff and/or external customers
Review and assist in the development and updating of standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality assurance project plans (QAPPs), and other guidance/procedural documentation

Required

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering, basic science, mathematics, environmental science, computer science or a related field
One year of full-time experience in performing engineering, technical, or related assignments may be substituted for each year of the required education
The ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ
Experience with managing, verifying, summarizing, or reporting air pollution (or air quality) data
Experience with reviewing technical data for quality assurance
Experience with ambient air monitoring programs or equipment
Experience with data analysis/summary applications (e.g. Statistical Analysis Software (SAS), Excel)
Experience with high volume data processing
