The California Department of Insurance (CDI) is seeking a dynamic Analyst I to join the Enforcement Branch. The Analyst I will perform analytical evidence collection and handling, ensuring compliance with evidence chain of custody procedures, and will support both the Sacramento and Golden Gate Regional Offices.

Responsibilities

Perform analytical evidence collection, handling, and disposition
Ensure strict compliance with evidence chain of custody procedures
Review and analyze basic to semi-complex information, subpoenas, court orders and other legal documents, and regulations for lawful handling of evidence

Required

Background check and fingerprinting required
Experience utilizing basic analytical skills
Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle
Must be able to work in a law enforcement environment that includes the presence of firearms
Ability to work flexible hours with some overtime as necessary
Appropriate dress according to the office environment
Must be able to work in a high-rise building
Routine travel of more than 50 miles and up to 25% is required within the State of California via private or public transportation (i.e., automobile, airplane, etc.). Travel may include overnight stay

Preferred

Knowledge of methods and practices in recording, inspecting, maintaining, receiving, issuing and recording inventory; accounting for and disposing of property and state records in accordance with applicable Government Code(s), the State Administrative Manual (SAM), and departmental policies and procedures
Knowledge of departmental automated systems and various Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, Access, etc
Must possess organization skills
Ability to work in a team environment with commitment and a cooperative attitude
Ability to work independently using sound judgment and willingness to exercise a high degree of initiative
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential issues and materials
Ability to maintain a courteous and professional demeanor at all times
Ability to handle multiple responsibilities including organizing and prioritizing workload to meet deadlines
Customer service oriented; excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with all levels of the organization
