Caltrans District 3 is part of the California Department of Developmental Services, providing services to individuals with developmental disabilities. The Automotive Equipment Operator I will operate and maintain delivery trucks and other vehicles in the transportation department as scheduled by the Automotive Pool Manager.

Responsibilities

Operate and maintain delivery trucks and any vehicle needed to perform duties in the transportation department as scheduled by the Automotive Pool Manager or designee

Must possess and maintain sufficient strength, agility, endurance, and sensory ability to perform the duties contained in the duty statement

Must be able to move, load and unload heavy items

Ongoing interaction with clients, personnel and the general public

Potential exposure to communicable diseases, blood-borne pathogens and other conditions common to a clinical nursing environment; work in extreme weather conditions

Position requires sitting, lifting, pulling, pushing, bending and stooping

Individuals interested in the position must take and pass the Department of State Hospitals' Automotive Equipment Operator I, DMH & DDS examination

Must possess and maintain sufficient strength, agility, endurance, and sensory ability to perform the duties contained in the duty statement

Must be able to move, load and unload heavy items

The position(s) require(s) a Drug Screening be passed prior to being hired

The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired

The position(s) require(s) Medical Clearance prior to being hired

Submit a completed standard state application (STD. 678) and copy of driver license valid for operation of any bus designed to carry more than 15 passengers, any single vehicle with three or more axles, any such vehicle towing another vehicle weighing less than 6,000 pounds gross by the final filing date
