Community Resilience Student Researcher

CHEManager International is seeking undergraduate student researchers to assist with a project focused on examining community resilience in the Wabash Valley region. The role involves conducting interviews, collecting and analyzing data, and assisting with report drafting and presentations.

Responsibilities

Assisting with the conduct of interviews and focus groups related to various community resilience topics, including:
Providing support to help plan the events
Note-taking during the events
Analysis of qualitative data
Collection and analysis of statistical data from various sources related to relevant community resilience topics
Collecting, summarizing and synthesizing relevant peer-reviewed academic literature on the subject of community resilience
Assisting with the conduct of a tabletop simulation exercise focused on community resilience, including:
Providing support to help plan the events
Note-taking during the events
Analysis of qualitative data
Students will participate in one substantive service learning activity as part of their employment. These activities will need to be approved by faculty investigators
Students will assist with the drafting of interim reports and a final report for the project
Students will help to prepare presentations of the results and participate in those presentations
Students will periodically write individual reports regarding the status of their work, as well as providing interim presentations summarizing their work
Students will complete periodic evaluations regarding their experience during the research process

Required

Indiana State University student enrolled in at least 6 credit hours
All student employees will be required to submit employment verification documents on their first day of work
High School diploma or GED
Major in any discipline, but some previous research experience is preferred
Able to assemble, analyze and present data
Able to multitask
Able to plan, organize, and implement projects in a timely manner
Able to read English, understand, and follow verbal and written instructions
Able to work both independently and collaboratively
Attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning, teambuilding and problem solving skills
Must be comfortable networking with groups or individuals

Preferred

Previous research experience is preferred
