Corporate Development Associate
Responsibilities
Analyze detailed financial statement information including income statement, balance sheet, cash flow and key operational data. Synthesize and convert the data into meaningful information that is used to drive discussions with management and drive observations and conclusions
Assist with core financial due diligence, helping to identify key risks and potential deal breakers, assess the strengths and weaknesses of the target’s business against industry benchmarks, and aid in the evaluation of the potential transaction /acquisition
Assess the quality of the target company’s reported earnings, net assets and cash flows
Assist in the construction of deal-oriented reports and presentations that highlight the key financial findings facing the potential acquisition and the drivers behind maintainable profits and cash flows. Aid the Corp Dev team in further articulating how such findings should be incorporated into the valuation and sale, purchase agreement and provide other negotiating points
Participate in meetings and conference calls with target company management team and with corporate personnel and serve as a secondary point of contact with respect to day-to-day execution matters
Digging into a target company’s financial statements, industry reports, and competitor data to find the "story" behind the numbers. Build detailed Excel models to analyze value of potential acquisition using various methodologies, including DCF, Comps, and Precedent Transactions Analysis
Assist with designing PowerPoint presentations (pitchbooks) that outline market trends, strategic advice, and valuation summaries for management review and analysis
Be actively involved in building and maintaining relationships and other business development opportunities
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
1-3 years of experience in investment banking, transaction advisory, corporate development, assurance services, financial consulting, or financial services
Proficient with: Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
Experience consulting and advising clients on operational, financial, and strategic issues
Ability to thrive and be effective in fast-paced settings
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong project management skills
Flexibility to work as both a team member and as an individual contributor
Preferred
Master's degree
Additional professional designations, certifications or licenses are a plus (CPA, CVA, ASA, CFA)
