Responsibilities
Oversee and manage all general accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities
Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile financial transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness
Manage and develop Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable staff
Prepare timely, accurate monthly financial statements and key operating reports
Analyze financial results and provide clear summaries of financial performance and trends
Identify errors, inefficiencies, and cost-saving opportunities; recommend process improvements
Review, develop, and enhance accounting systems, procedures, and internal controls
Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
Direct internal and external audits and ensure compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements
Assist with tax audits and the preparation of tax returns
Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting processes and participate in financial standards setting
Develop and document accounting policies and business processes to strengthen internal controls
Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable financial regulations
Collaborate with senior leadership to support departmental goals and improve financial procedures
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
Proven experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accountant with increasing responsibility
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Experience with general ledger functions and month-end/quarter-end/year-end close processes
Familiarity with financial statements and financial reporting
Awareness of business trends and their financial impact
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Strong analytical, numerical, and quantitative skills
Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer
Ability to use hands and fingers to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment
Ability to speak clearly and hear effectively for communication with employees, vendors, and leadership
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial documents, reports, and computer screens
Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, or reach within the office environment
Ability to lift and carry up to 15 pounds occasionally (e.g., files, office supplies)
Ability to work on-site in an office setting five days per week
Preferred
Hands-on experience with Viewpoint accounting software preferred but not required
