Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data platforms using Python and AWS
Work with healthcare data standards and formats , including: FHIR, HL7, EMR/EHR data
Ensure data solutions comply with healthcare regulatory and security requirements (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2)
Partner with product, engineering, and compliance teams to translate requirements into technical solutions
Take ownership of data architecture decisions and help build out the core platform
Implement data quality, monitoring, and reliability best practices
Support analytics, reporting, and downstream data consumers
Contribute to technical direction and mentor other engineers as the team grows
Document data systems, pipelines, and operational processes
Qualification
Required
5–8 years of professional experience as a Data Engineer
Strong experience with Python as a primary development language
Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services
Proven experience working with healthcare data and healthcare IT systems
Strong understanding of healthcare regulations and compliance, including: HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2
Experience with healthcare data standards: FHIR, HL7, EMR/EHR systems
Strong SQL and data modeling skills
Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote environment
Preferred
Experience in healthcare technology startups
Experience designing platforms from early-stage or greenfield environments
Exposure to data security, access controls, and audit frameworks
Experience working in Agile development environments
