Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and repair electromechanical patient care equipment (e.g., infusion pumps, patient monitors, respiratory equipment, defibrillators, anesthesia machines, and EKG machines)
Perform inspections, calibrations, and electrical safety testing in compliance with manufacturer specifications
Install new equipment and conduct thorough incoming inspections
Assist senior technicians with major repairs on complex, high-end medical systems
Maintain accurate service records within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
Ensure all work meets regulatory standards, including The Joint Commission (TJC), DNV, DOH, and CAP
Adhere to strict Quality Management Systems (ISO 13485) and safety procedures regarding bloodborne pathogens and hazardous materials
Act as a technical consultant for clinical and facility staff, providing updates on equipment status
Conduct inventory audits and recommend updates to the performance assurance schedules
Mentor junior technicians and foster a collaborative, "customer-first" environment
Qualification
Required
3+ years of hands-on experience with clinical biomedical equipment in a hospital or clinical setting
Technical degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology (BMET), Electronics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Proficient in interpreting error codes, using diagnostic software, and repairing computerized medical devices
Ability to distinguish colors/temperature ranges and lift up to 50 lbs routinely
Preferred
CBET or similar professional certification
