The role involves directing plays and musicals, collaborating with the Performing Arts Department, and fostering a productive learning environment for students.

Responsibilities
Produce and direct a high school fall play, a winter middle and high school musical, a spring middle school play, and supervise/facilitate one additional theater workshop for high school students
Openness and enthusiasm when giving and receiving feedback
Is knowledgeable of grade level curriculum/demonstrates subject-area expertise
Implement effective rehearsal management techniques and strategies
Demonstrate awareness/sensitivity to varying needs of student learning
Collaborate and coordinate with the Performing Arts Department Chair (Music Director), Technical Director, and Choreographer (as necessary) for each production
Coordinate with and maximize in-house resources in conjunction with the Technical Director for lighting, set design,props, and costumes (when applicable)
Communicate effectively with students and parents regarding rehearsal and show times and as well as rehearsal expectations
In conjunction with the Performing Arts Department Chair, plan the theater season, create and maintain rehearsal and production schedules that include all necessary elements for an effective show
Communicate appropriately and effectively with colleagues
Attend/participate in required faculty/grade level team meetings and school events
Implement effective rehearsal management techniques and strategies
Organize and maintain the appearance of space
Maintain appropriate supervision of students as assigned
Foster a productive learning environment

Qualification
Required
BFA or BA degree in theater MFA or MA in theater/directing or relevant equivalent experience
Knowledgeable, flexible, and passionate instructor in the area of theater arts
Up-to-date with the current climate of the theater industry
Prior directing and acting experience is required, preferably in youth theater settings
Social and emotional acuity for pre-teens and teenagers
Availability during afternoons, early evenings, and occasional weekends is a must
Excellent writing, communication, and grammar skills
Flexibility in working with a two campus K-12 institution with many operational needs
Requires demonstrated and direct experience using a wide range of instructional technology tools including iPads, laptops, and Google Apps
Must be detail-oriented, organized and willing to take initiative
Must have excellent teamwork skills and collaboration with parents is a plus
Requires the ability to work well with children and adults
Must be a role model in embracing and living out the Schools' mission, goals and criteria
Preferred
Experience with independent schools is strongly preferred
