Responsibilities

Performs day-to-day administration of Linux servers, which includes applying patches, monitoring system health, and troubleshooting hardware/software issues
Assists in the implementation of server upgrades and migrations while operating under the guidance of senior staff
Maintains and updates automation scripts and tools as directed, such as Shell and Ansible
Analyzes system logs, identifies potential issues, and monitors and tunes system performance
Installs and configures new hardware and software, applying operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes
Responds to technical support requests, answers technical inquiries, and resolves open issues within established service level agreements related to servers and networks
Collaborates with team members to identify and address recurring problems, escalating complex issues to senior administrators as needed
Ensures compliance with organizational IT policies and security standards and performs routine audits of systems and software
Supports asset inventory management and documents the technical environment and system configurations
Introduces and integrates new technologies into the existing Data Center environments
Administers operating systems, maintains security, and implements backup procedures for the organization's information systems and peripheral equipment, such as servers, desktops, printers, and storage devices
Tracks compliance and maintains documentation for hardware, software, and service inventories for management reports
Performs other related work as needed

Required

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field
Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline

Preferred

A minimum five years of systems administration experience
Industry recognized professional and technical certifications
Proficient managing networked servers, including knowledge of switches and firewalls, network services, system utilities, hardware installation, and operating/application system installation
Skilled in a multi-platform network environment, client support, and backup and restore technologies
Expertise with system administration issues in a large and complex client server environment
Knowledge of backup technology, monitoring, and other automated systems management technologies
Proven ability to solve complex systems problems, work independently, and work well with others in a team environment
Outstanding deductive and investigative skills to identify and diagnose complex, non-intuitive technical problems
Quickly learn new procedures, techniques, and approaches
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Integrity and credibility to work with sensitive data
