Assistant City Attorney UN (Multiple Positions)
The City of Albuquerque is hiring for various Assistant City Attorney positions within its Legal Department. These attorneys will provide legal services to the City, represent it in court, and act as general counsel to various departments, particularly in civil litigation claims.
Government Administration
Responsibilities
Provide a broad range of legal services to the City
Represent the City in legal proceedings in court and before state, federal and administrative bodies
Act as general counsel to various City departments
Handle legal services to the City’s Department of Municipal Development (DMD)
Represent the City in civil litigation claims
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school recognized by the American Bar Association
Must be an active member of the State Bar of New Mexico in good standing, or be able to become licensed in New Mexico within three (3) months from date of hire
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License or the ability to obtain by date of hire
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire
Resume and writing sample submitted with application
Attention to detail and strong writing and interpersonal skills are essential
Preferred
Experience with litigation
Experience with contract drafting and review
Experience with government agencies
Experience with government compliance
Experience with policy writing
