Marketing and Community Engagement Specialist

Abilene ISD is a school district that emphasizes strategic communication and community engagement. The Marketing and Community Engagement Specialist will be responsible for planning and implementing marketing campaigns that enhance recruitment and stakeholder engagement, while also managing community relations and events.

Responsibilities

Research, plan, implement, evaluate, and report on strategic, data-driven district, campus, and department-level marketing campaigns
Work with district personnel, campuses, departments, and external partners to evaluate and ensure the consistency of messaging and brand identity standards
Help establish district and campus customer service standards and training
Design and publish branded digital content, graphics, and other promotional collateral for a variety of internal and external marketing tools and outlets
Assist with content creation for and management of district and campus websites, social media, publications, and other promotional outlets
Take and edit photographs for use with digital content and print collateral
Provide leadership for the planning and execution of recurring and special districtwide events, including celebrations and recognition programs
Help manage community partnership work, including volunteer coordination
Contribute to professional development in assigned duty areas for the Communications team and AISD leaders
Assess freelance work needs and identify solutions

Required

Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, communications, public relations, or a related field from an accredited college or university
Proven experience in public or education sector communications and marketing using a variety of strategic approaches
Excellent verbal and written professional communication skills
Project management skills, including the ability to meet deadlines and multitask
Marketing and advertising campaign project planning, budgeting, and management
Strong market research ability
Experience with integrated and email marketing, SEO, Google Ads, and media buys
Ability to develop clear KPIs, budget-aligned ROI targets, and actionable insights
Content management skills for web, social media, digital, and print outlets
Event planning and logistics skills
Graphic design skills and creative platform knowledge
Ability to operate professional production tools, including digital cameras
Working knowledge of digital photography and editing software
Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, etc.)
Google Suite applications (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.)
Adobe Creative Cloud applications (Photoshop, Lightroom, etc)
Creative design tools (Illustrator, Canva, etc.)
Google Analytics
Meta Business Suite
Social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.)
Digital cameras and other photography equipment

Preferred

Proven experience in public or education sector communications and marketing using a variety of strategic approaches
General understanding of the structures and trends of K-12 public education in Texas
