Responsibilities
Work under supervision of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory)
Assist in the Western Snowy Plover and California Least Tern Management Program and other natural resource efforts throughout the district
Work collaboratively and professionally with all staff, contractors, and volunteers
Serve as leadperson to seasonal employees
Monitor and manage the snowy plover and least tern at an active Off-Highway Vehicle park
Conduct population surveys, locate and monitor nests, erect and monitor fence and nest exclosures, and use a vehicle as a blind for monitoring nests and chicks
Qualification
Required
Possession of a valid Class C driver's license is required
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment
As a condition of employment, this position must currently be listed, or eligible to be listed within 6 months of hiring, as an authorized individual on a United States Fish and Wildlife Recovery Permit to work with western snowy plover and California least tern
Candidates that believe they meet the Minimum qualifications based on a pattern of education from the classification description (specifications) must provide a copy of your degree/transcripts and/or license along with your application (STD. 678) to be considered for this position
If selected for the position Official sealed transcripts will be required prior to appointment
