Gas Supply Senior Planning – Data Analyst
Rhode Island Energy is a provider of essential energy services to over 770,000 customers in Rhode Island. They are seeking a Gas Supply Senior Planning Analyst who will be responsible for managing gas supply transactions, conducting data analysis, and supporting regulatory submissions to ensure reliable and cost-effective service to customers.

Responsibilities
Executing and managing the daily, monthly, and seasonal procurement and gas supply related transactions
Use mathematical and analytical methodologies to assess and evaluate gas supply commercial arrangements for natural gas pipeline, storage and peaking capacity procurement, including cost projections and summaries of operational characteristics for alternative resources
Analyze large amounts of data to interpret patterns and trends, assess data quality, and communicate results and uncertainties associated with analysis
Updates, maintains, and performs analysis on various and complex spreadsheet models
Provide specialized analysis to support responses to internal and external data requests
Develop customized reports using newly installed gas management system
Support portfolio optimization analysis by conducting various spreadsheet analysis
Provide analytical support for regulatory submissions to the Rhode Island Public Utilities Commission and Division of Public Utilities and Carriers, including the Long-Range Resource and Requirements Plan (LRP) and Gas Cost Recovery (GCR) filings
Sponsor and support testimony with respect to various data analyses
Respond to discovery with respect to submitted data analysis
Monitor and perform special analysis, as needed, of natural gas market dynamics and regulatory developments that may affect natural gas supply planning and procurement objectives
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in data analytics, econometrics, quantitative finance, mathematics, or other analytical discipline
Five years of analytical experience
Proficient with Excel, PowerBI, Python, or other data analytical tools
Problem solving and analytical skills to work in this data intensive position
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Must be able to work in a team environment and particularly with the trading team to assist with deal evaluation
Preferred
Master's degree (or equivalent experience) in data analytics, econometrics, quantitative finance, mathematics, or other analytical discipline
Experience working for a gas utility in the gas procurement function or experience in gas supply and procurement for a market participant
Knowledge of New England natural gas markets and infrastructure, including gas supply, storage, and pipeline transportation
Experience with portfolio optimization modeling software (e.g., SENDOUT® or Plexos)
Experience presenting to groups
Experience with technical report writing
