Public Works Maintenance Section Chief
The City of Houston is seeking a Public Works Maintenance Section Chief to oversee the Transportation & Drainage Operations/Bridge Maintenance section. This role involves planning, organizing, and directing operations while ensuring efficient work completion and compliance with standards.

Responsibilities
Plans, organizes, schedules, directs, and reviews various operations and personnel to ensure implementation and completion of work
Assigns work to subordinate supervisors, clerical, and technical personnel
Reviews and critiques methods and procedures regularly to maintain and improve efficient areas of operations
Evaluates individual and group performances and make or recommend improvements
Prepares bridge maintenance projects according to the guidelines
Prepares SOP's and revisions in a timely manner
Ensures documents are completed accurately and on time to meet division goals
Maintain records and reports of work schedules and accomplishments
Ensure policies and procedures are aligned with the division's expectations
Monitors ongoing projects to ensure all required work is completed in accordance with COH standards
Coordinates the work sections and works cooperatively with other divisions, outside agencies, committees and civic associations
Prepares annual operating budgets
Makes recommendations for capital facilities
Ensures personnel receive appropriate safety training and supplies, including review of SARA Title III right-to-know information
Strong ability to manage high volume service request routed through service line
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or a GED
Five years of experience closely related to the activities of the section
Valid Texas Driver's License and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving
Preferred
Experience in operating and maintaining bridges
Eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for
