Coastal Carolina University is a public comprehensive liberal arts institution located in Conway, South Carolina. They are seeking a full-time lecturer of French to teach all levels of French language and occasional English-language courses, with a preference for candidates experienced in second language acquisition.

Responsibilities

Teaches students in the classroom and/or laboratory
Prepares each course and/or lab assigned)
Communicates to students after reviewing assignments
Tracks and reports absences during the designated period as directed by the Office of the Registrar
Calculates and assigns grades (midterm and final) through established procedures listed in the Faculty Manual and University Catalog
Posts and holds office hours per College guidelines
Conducts research to create and add to knowledge in a field, including the advancement of new theories and principles to improve educational effectiveness
Engages in University-related activities including committee assignments, meetings and scholarly pursuits as prescribed in the Faculty Manual
Performs other departmental needs as assigned

Qualification

Experience teaching language coursesMaster's degree in FrenchNear-native fluency in FrenchTeaching with technologyExceptional teachingInterest in professional developmentBackground in second language acquisition

Required

Master's degree in French, French and Francophone Studies, or a closely related field
Experience teaching language and culture courses to students from a broad range of majors at a US institution of higher education
Near-native fluency in French and English
Evidence of proficiency in teaching with technology

Preferred

PhD in French, French and Francophone Studies, or a closely related field
Evidence of exceptional teaching
Evidence of interest in ongoing professional development
Demonstrate background/experience in second language acquisition or languages for the professions
