Responsibilities
Serve as the primary technical lead for multiple internal R&D efforts focused on AI/ML-driven operational platforms
Define end-to-end system architectures that support mid-to-high technology readiness goals and incremental delivery milestones
Design and guide implementation of advanced AI workflows built on large language models, autonomous agents, and probabilistic reasoning techniques
Establish architectural standards for secure, scalable, and interoperable solutions across cloud environments
Architect AI systems leveraging commercial and government-authorized foundation models, with emphasis on structured outputs, validation techniques, and reliability
Guide development of agent-based reasoning pipelines, simulation-driven analysis, and debate or consensus-based AI methods
Enable integration with existing operational systems to support data exchange, visualization, and decision support
Ensure AI services operate within controlled environments without reliance on external search or uncontrolled data sources
Oversee hybrid and multi-cloud architectures deployed on commercial cloud platforms
Ensure solutions meet applicable government security and compliance requirements, including access control, data handling, and auditability
Promote DevSecOps best practices across the full development lifecycle, from design through deployment
Collaborate with operational users and mission partners to translate needs into technical designs
Support demonstrations, workshops, and scenario-based exercises to validate capabilities
Drive milestone-based delivery using MVP-focused development strategies
Track technical risk, delivery progress, and measurable impact such as efficiency gains or cost avoidance
Guide development of training materials, technical documentation, and onboarding resources
Identify novel technical approaches with potential for intellectual property protection
Contribute to thought leadership in areas such as AI prompting strategies, influence modeling, and advanced visualization
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline with 12+ years of relevant experience
(Additional experience may substitute for formal education)
Extensive background in software and systems architecture, including several years in a lead or principal role
Hands-on experience designing and implementing solutions using large language models and agent-based AI approaches
Strong knowledge of cloud architecture, including secure deployments in regulated environments
Experience integrating data from multiple sources using APIs, pipelines, and orchestration frameworks
Proficiency in Python and modern web technologies, including interactive visualization development
Experience with containers, orchestration platforms, and CI/CD pipelines
Familiarity with geospatial data and visualization concepts
Ability to produce formal architecture documentation and technical diagrams
U.S. citizenship
Active Secret clearance with eligibility for higher-level access
Willingness to travel domestically or internationally as needed
Preferred
Advanced degree in a technical field
Direct experience with autonomous or agentic AI systems, probabilistic modeling, or simulation-driven analysis
Exposure to operational command-and-control or common operating picture platforms
Background in research environments transitioning prototypes into operational systems
Knowledge of MLOps, model monitoring, validation, and performance optimization
Experience incorporating human-in-the-loop workflows for AI quality assurance
Strong communication skills with the ability to brief senior technical and operational leaders
Familiarity with Agile development, MVP delivery models, and R&D maturity frameworks
Relevant technical or cloud certifications
