They are seeking Traffic Engineers to manage the full spectrum of traffic engineering operations, from conception through completion, while ensuring compliance with standards and collaborating with various agencies.

Responsibilities
Prepare signing, striping, temporary traffic control, signal, lighting and Intelligent Transportation construction plans and specifications to ensure compliance with standards and project schedule
Provide technical assistance to construction inspectors in the field to verify construction conforms to WVDOH traffic specifications/ plans
Create, update, and archive as-built plans
Develop and implement traffic signal timing parameters in accordance with WVDOH standards
Perform operational and maintenance checks to ensure the signal functions correctly
Review construction plans for accuracy and provides comments to other functional areas
Gather data such as sight distance, safety, no passing, infrastructure inventory, Before/After, crash, etc. to complete special studies
Analyze the traffic data for reporting, planning, and study purposes
Update and maintain crash information/databases and create detailed crash studies using Linear Referencing System (LRS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software
Assist with the analysis, scheduling, oversight, identification, and inspection of marking utility locations
Respond to customer inquiries/request by translating technical information into responses easily understood by the general public
Qualification
Required
Traffic Engineering degree or equivalent experience
Experience in traffic study/design
Ability to prepare plan sets for traffic control, signing, pavement marking, signal, lighting
Experience gathering data and preparing special studies
Ability to perform operational and maintenance checks for traffic signals, lighting and Intelligent Transportation Systems
Knowledge of WVDOH standards and guidelines
Experience analyzing and evaluating roadways for safety and functionality
Ability to collaborate with institutions/municipal agencies
Strong problem-solving skills
Experience in preparing signing, striping, temporary traffic control, signal, lighting and Intelligent Transportation construction plans
Technical assistance experience to construction inspectors
Ability to create, update, and archive as-built plans
Experience developing and implementing traffic signal timing parameters
Ability to review construction plans for accuracy
Experience gathering and analyzing traffic data
Ability to update and maintain crash information/databases
Experience using Linear Referencing System (LRS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software
Ability to respond to customer inquiries and translate technical information
Preferred
Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification
Project Management experience
Experience with Intelligent Transportation Systems
Experience in a consulting engineering firm
Familiarity with construction specifications and plans
