Plant Engineer – Capital Projects & Equipment
Confidential company is in the food manufacturing industry, seeking an experienced Plant Engineer to oversee facility building systems and capital project execution. The role involves leading capital initiatives, managing equipment lifecycle decisions, and driving projects that enhance safety, quality, and production efficiency.

Responsibilities
Lead capital equipment strategy, including procurement, installation, validation, and commissioning
Manage facility building infrastructure, production systems, utilities, and site improvements
Own and execute capital project planning and delivery, from concept and ROI justification through final startup
Partner with operations, food science, quality, and safety teams to ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, OSHA, and SQF standards
Develop capital budgets, cost forecasts, and timeline plans for major equipment and construction projects
Coordinate and manage vendors, contractors, and OEM partners
Lead equipment specification development and selection
Drive continuous improvement, sustainability, automation, and capacity expansion efforts
Provide technical leadership during new line builds and plant upgrades
Establish project charters, manage risk, control scope, and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery
Support long-term facility and equipment master planning
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related)
5+ years manufacturing engineering experience, with a strong focus on capital equipment and capital project leadership
Experience in food, beverage, dairy, or packaged goods manufacturing preferred
Proven ability to lead capital deployments in active production facilities
Strong understanding of plant building systems (HVAC, compressed air, boilers, refrigeration, water systems, etc.)
Experience with equipment integration, automation, controls, and line layout design
Ability to manage multiple multi-million-dollar projects simultaneously
Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-department collaboration skills
Preferred
Project management certifications ( PMP, CAPM, or similar )
Familiarity with sanitary equipment design and hygienic infrastructure
Startup/commissioning leadership of processing, packaging, or high-speed production lines
Capital justification writing and financial modeling (ROI, NPV, IRR)
