Lead Electrical Engineer

They are seeking a highly experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to drive the electrical design and integration of their implantable neurotechnology platform, tackling high-impact engineering challenges and shaping revolutionary devices for transformative healthcare outcomes.

Responsibilities
Lead the electrical architecture for a next-generation implantable neurotechnology platform, driving design decisions across analog, digital, power, safety, and communication domains
Own the full lifecycle of electrical subsystem development: requirements, architecture, schematic design, layout oversight, DFM/DFT, verification, and design transfer
Architect low-noise, low-power and high bandwidth systems for neural recording and stimulation
Conduct simulation, modeling, and analysis (signal integrity, power integrity, thermal, safety, reliability)
Lead verification and validation for electrical systems—including benchtop, environmental, sterilization, preclinical, and clinical readiness testing
Manage component selection, vendor qualification, and manufacturing partnerships for implantable-grade electronics
Ensure designs meet medical safety standards, EMC/EMI requirements, and regulatory constraints
Collaborate with engineering teams to define electrical interfaces, requirements, and traceability
Serve as a technical leader and mentor—reviewing designs, coaching engineers, and setting electrical engineering best practices
Support long-term technology roadmap planning, including next-generation architectures
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering or a related field
8+ years of experience in electrical design for high-performance, safety-critical, or medical devices
Deep expertise in analog circuit design, stimulation circuits, ADCs, power management, and safety circuitry
Proven track record leading complex PCB or mixed-signal system development from concept through production
Strong experience with Altium or Cadence, including DRC, stack-up design, and layout reviews
Experience with designing and characterizing optical communication with LED/photodiode circuits
Deep understanding of EMC/EMI, ESD protection, isolation, grounding strategies, and medical device safety requirements
Expertise in electrical verification methods, test fixture development, and hardware characterization tools
Experience interacting with regulatory bodies, standards (IEC 60601, IEC 61010, ISO 14708, ISO 14971), and design controls processes
Strong documentation, safety-first mindset, and ability to work within a regulated medical development environment
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a interdisciplinary environment
Adaptability to fast-paced research with dynamic priorities
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred
Knowledge of FPGA embedded systems
Experience with inductive power transfer systems or high-efficiency wireless power links
Experience working with or designing toward ASIC-based implementations
Direct experience with implantable electronics, hermetic packaging, or neural interface hardware
Experience with optical or RF communication systems at the hardware level
Participation in first-in-human or early clinical device deployments
