General Dynamics Mission Systems is seeking a Power Design electrical engineer for Undersea Systems, responsible for developing Undersea Communication systems. The role requires expertise in electrical engineering and offers opportunities for continuous learning and development.
Responsibilities
Develop Undersea Communication systems as a member of a cross-functional team
Utilize high voltage DC power systems/module design and multiple power topology design
Apply expert knowledge of electrical engineering CAD tools and mixed signal circuit analysis/design
Conduct circuit design and analog design and instrumentation analysis
Work on feedback/control systems and power system architecture
Perform EMI test and control methods, and troubleshoot using specialized laboratory equipment
Write specifications, requirements, and verification procedures for complex electronic systems
Drive innovation around design architectures and collaborate with design teams
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field
5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience
Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance is required within a reasonable period of time
U.S. citizenship is required
Preferred
High Voltage DC Power systems / Module design. Experience should include multiple power topology design experience from few watts to KW+ converters
High voltage applications, power transmission systems, power electronics and HVDC technology
Expert level understanding of electrical engineering computer-aided design (CAD) tools and mixed Signal circuit analysis/design
Solid use of electrical engineering concepts, principles, and theories
Circuit Design expertise
Analog design and instrumentation (design and analysis)
Feedback / Control systems experience
Power System architecture and grounding
Isolated Switching Converters
Transmission Line Effects in power systems
EMI test and control methods (MIL-STD-461, FCC / IDE / VDE, etc)
Magnetics Design and High Speed Design experience are desirable
Strong troubleshooting ability: must be able to diagnose a problem by narrowing the point of failure sequentially through components
The use of specialized laboratory equipment such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and other test equipment for development, testing, and troubleshooting
Experience in writing specifications, requirements, and verification procedures for complex electronic systems and components
Ahead of technology trends with Research & Development (R&D) experience, as well as advanced proficiency in test, troubleshooting, and analyzing circuit card schematics
Motivated to drive innovation around design architectures, assembly, component selection, and electronics design
Exceptional collaboration and communication skills with demonstrated success leading design teams for complex projects
