Responsibilities
Manage all aspects of assigned litigation cases, including trial and arbitration preparation
Collaborate with trial attorneys to:
Develop discovery and investigation strategies
Prepare defense plans in coordination with Claims Specialists
Draft and file legal documents, including:
Pleadings
Motions
Discovery requests and responses
Attend court appearances, depositions, and hearings
Prepare cases for trial or arbitration
Represent CAP/MPT physicians in “deposition-only” cases
Provide legal guidance and respond to Claims Department hotline inquiries
Assist trial and lead attorneys with:
Preparation of litigation reports
Timely case status updates to Claims
Ensure compliance with Defense Attorney Guidelines
Share legal knowledge and best practices with other attorneys
Maintain a cost-effective approach to case work-up and overall defense strategy
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree
Active license to practice law in California
Minimum 3 years of medical malpractice litigation experience
Strong understanding of medical and legal issues related to malpractice claims
Strong understanding of litigation procedures and trial preparation
Excellent legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills
Strong organizational and case management abilities
