Nuclear Engineer (Peer Reviewer), Level II

Akima Infrastructure Services (AIS) is actively seeking a Nuclear Engineer (Peer Reviewer) Level II to support the Department of Energy at the Y-12 National Security Complex and Pantex Plant. The role involves development and peer review of Nuclear Criticality Safety documentation, daily nuclear facility support, and participation in Operational Safety Boards.

Responsibilities

Development, revision, and peer review of Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS) documentation such as Criticality Safety Evaluations (CSEs), Nuclear Criticality Safety Determinations (NCSDs), Technical Deviations (TDs), and various other NCS technical basis documentation:
Completion of required NCS annual Operational Reviews as needed
Daily nuclear facility support as needed, consisting of facility walkdowns, review of NCS requirements implementing documents, participation at facility Operational Safety Boards, etc
Must be Peer Review qualified
Staff Augmentation peer review support of the requested individual is needed in order to accomplish the increased mission needs of the Personnel Development and Peer Review NCS Engineering group given the amount of experience possessed by this individual pertinent to Y-12 nuclear facilities

Required

US citizen
at least 18 years of age
able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy
ABET accredited engineering bachelor's degree with 5-9 years of experience or a MS with 5-9 years of experience
Ability to obtain a DOE Q clearance
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy and would be identified as a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position
WSAP positions require participation in an ongoing random drug testing program in addition to the pre-employment drug screen
Pre-employment Drug Screen - external applicants selected for this position are required to successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment drug test
Medical Exam(s) - Job related pre-placement medical examinations may be required for this position
Must be Peer Review qualified
