Principal Safety Engineer – Standards

The Principal Safety Engineer will lead a team of safety engineers in developing and managing safety standards, providing consultation on complex safety regulations, and engaging with various stakeholders to enhance workplace safety in California.

Responsibilities

Lead a team working on regulations vital to the health and safety of the community, workforce, and the state
Manage a unit of safety engineers responsible for developing the State’s safety standards
Report to the Executive Officer and serve as a technical advisor during public hearings
Develop programs to promote safety concepts and consult with labor, management, and public groups on complex safety engineering problems

Required

A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) highlighting your experience that qualifies you for this position must accompany the application
A resume/curriculum vitae must be submitted IN ADDITION to the SOQ
The SOQ should be typed in 12-point font, no more than three (single-sided) pages in length and address the following in the order listed: How would you address a backlog of high-priority projects with limited engineering resources? What steps would you take to prioritize and organize the work to ensure it is delivered accurately and in a timely manner?
