Responsibilities

Participate in interviewing candidates with the Fabrication Plant Manager to ensure hiring qualified individuals or trainable talent with the right skills and attitude
Oversee and facilitate the training of new employees within the paint department
Ensure all AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction) paint paperwork is completed daily and as required
Perform daily checks using applicable gauges, meters, and testing equipment to confirm they are calibrated and within operational standards
Conduct QA/QC checks to ensure the finished product meets project, AISC, and manufacturer specifications
Ensure load tickets are detailed, accurate, and entered into Tekla EPMgo. Provide training to employees on the EPMgo shipping module
Coordinate with the Logistics Coordinator, Shop Manager, and Production Team to assign painting and loading tasks to specific bays based on workflow needs
Maintain awareness of daily schedules, ensuring the painting and loading team meets delivery dates, including working overtime and weekends as necessary
Identify and recommend operational improvements to management for review and approval
Enforce strict adherence to all safety protocols and ensure team compliance
Participate with shop management in the Employee Corrective Action and Progressive Discipline Policy and Program
Provide professional, fair, and consistent leadership aligned with the values of Kinsley Steel Inc
Foster a collaborative, productive, and positive work environment

Required

Minimum of 5 years in a structural steel fabrication painting and/or loading operation, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
Strong understanding of AISC painting standards and quality control processes
Proven ability to lead a team, train employees, and enforce company policies consistently and fairly
Exceptional ability to manage multiple priorities, schedules, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong focus on ensuring quality and accuracy in work output
Commitment to upholding and promoting workplace safety standards

Preferred

Familiarity with Tekla EPMgo or similar production/shipping software
