MEP Electrical Designer/Drafter

I.A. Naman + Associates is a leading provider of mechanical and electrical engineering services based in Houston, Texas. They are seeking a proactive MEP Electrical Designer/Drafter responsible for preparing detailed working diagrams and layouts of electrical systems to support various engineering projects.

Responsibilities

Develop detailed design drawings and specifications using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment, primarily Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD
Develop floor plans, schematics, schedules, diagrams, and other documentation for electrical distribution and lighting systems, applying knowledge of engineering principles
Coordinate with and consult other project team members to design, layout, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems
Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed
Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery using computer-assisted equipment
Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems
Layout, draw, and reproduce illustrations for reference manuals and technical publications to describe operation and maintenance of building systems

Required

Associate degree (A. A.) in Drafting, Design, CAD from a two-year college or technical school required
1-3+ years of experience in electrical design and installation for power and lighting systems in buildings, critical facilities, and MEP consulting
Working familiarity and understanding of ASHRAE, NFPA, and International Building and Electrical Codes
Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit CAD software required
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, etc.)

Preferred

Knowledge of various CAD software such as Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services
Knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry
Analyzing needs and project requirements to assist in creating a design
The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations)
Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times
