Electrical Systems Engineer
USA Tech Recruit is working with an engineering-led company developing uncrewed inspection platforms for subsea infrastructure. They are seeking an Electrical Systems Engineer to take ownership of vessel-level electrical architecture as the platform scales from prototype to production.
Responsibilities
Own the vessel-wide electrical architecture spanning propulsion, energy storage, power distribution, control, and communications systems
Define system topologies, interfaces, and grounding/shielding strategies to ensure safety, robustness, and long-term serviceability
Develop block diagrams, power-tree diagrams, and system-level schematics to guide PCB, wiring harness, and enclosure design
Define and manage power budgets and current paths across all subsystems, including worst-case and transient operating conditions
Lead component selection across power electronics, sensors, converters, controllers, and communication interfaces, evaluating vendors on reliability, environmental ratings, availability, cost, and lifecycle risk
Partner closely with software and mechanical engineers to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and maintainable
Support compliance efforts related to electrical safety, EMC, and relevant marine standards through appropriate design and protection strategies
Qualification
Required
2–5 years of experience in system-level electrical design for complex electromechanical systems
Demonstrated experience taking hardware systems from prototype through production
Background in marine, aerospace, robotics, or similarly high-reliability environments
Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field
Strong understanding of power distribution architectures and system-level electrical design principles
Deep expertise in component selection for high-reliability, harsh-environment applications
Experience using CAD tools for electrical schematics and system documentation
