Junior Staff Accountant
Hotels at Home is a global e-commerce and logistics company with over 20 years of experience in delivering luxury hotel experiences to customers' homes. They are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Staff Accountant to manage day-to-day financial data entry, transaction recording, and support the Controller with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
Responsibilities
Record financial transactions including daily cash receipts, vendor invoices, and customer payments
Maintain the general ledger by posting journal entries and categorizing transactions accurately
Enter data into accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, or similar) and Excel spreadsheets with high attention to detail
Ensure all financial data is entered accurately and in a timely manner
Maintain organized digital and paper filing systems for financial records
Process vendor invoices, verify coding and approvals, and enter into the accounting system
Record customer payments and deposits, matching to open invoices
Reconcile customer and vendor accounts and follow up on discrepancies
Assist with collections by identifying overdue accounts and communicating with customers
Support payment processing and invoice distribution
Reconcile bank statements with the general ledger on a monthly basis
Reconcile credit card statements and identify discrepancies
Prepare monthly reconciliation reports and investigate outstanding items
Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are resolved
Assist in preparing basic financial reports including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow summaries
Prepare expense reports and budget tracking summaries
Support month-end close processes by providing transaction details and reconciliations
Generate reports for management as requested
Maintain accurate records to support audits and tax preparation
Assist with payroll processing, including data entry and verification of hours worked
Support tax preparation by maintaining organized records and providing documentation
Ensure compliance with company policies and financial regulations
Assist with year-end tax filing and audit support
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED required
1–2 years of bookkeeping, accounting, or data-entry experience (or equivalent internship experience)
Candidates with strong academic backgrounds in accounting and limited work experience are encouraged to apply
Solid understanding of basic accounting principles including debits, credits, and double-entry bookkeeping
Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage
Strong Excel skills including basic formulas, pivot tables, and data entry
Familiarity with general ledger accounting and journal entries
10-key typing proficiency and accurate data entry skills
Ability to learn new software systems quickly
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information
Problem-solving mindset with ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
Team player with strong work ethic and willingness to learn
Preferred
Associate degree or accounting coursework preferred
Experience with multi-currency or international accounting
Familiarity with e-commerce or retail accounting
Bilingual (Spanish a plus)
Bookkeeping certification or pursuing accounting credential
Experience with automated accounting tools or AI-powered financial software
