Internal Communications Specialist III

NEOGOV is seeking an Internal Communications Specialist to join the Department of Community and Human Services’ Director's Office. This role involves developing and executing strategic communications plans to ensure employees receive clear and consistent messaging, as well as producing various forms of content to engage and inform the workforce.

Responsibilities

Design and build the internal communications infrastructure needed to deliver clear, consistent messages to our large, diverse workforce
Provide strategic-level recommendations to senior leadership on the best platform – whether it’s text, video, newsletter, virtual meetings, or in person – to deliver the right message to the right people at the right time
Produce clear, compelling content that is easily accessible and is most appropriate for the audience and the moment
Establish and update policies that provide clear direction for internal communications throughout the department, including for each of our five divisions
Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on the best opportunities to authentically engage employees
Demonstrated ability to respond effectively to evolving or sensitive situations with clear, timely messaging

Required

Proven ability to develop and execute strategic communications plans that provide clear direction, crisp messaging, and defined outcomes
Experience writing content for communication products such as feature articles, website, videos, and blog content
Experience managing digital messaging platforms and systems, such as e-newsletters and websites
Exceptional writing skills that include ability to write messages for Department and Division leadership
Experience working in large agencies and successfully navigating complex agency structures
Proven ability to consult senior executives on high-profile and sensitive issues, providing clear, concise recommendations for messaging and strategy for best delivery
Ability to produce and execute a rapid communications response to quickly evolving or sensitive situations
Design and build the internal communications infrastructure needed to deliver clear, consistent messages to our large, diverse workforce

Preferred

Experience with SharePoint and SharePoint site administration
Experience with GovDelivery digital messaging system
Experience with QR Code technology
Experience with decision-makers in a political environment and in being sensitive to the political environment
Experience producing the messaging and design of graphics (such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite) and the scripting and production of videos
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in communications, public relations, political science, or a related/applicable field preferred; Equivalent professional experience will also be considered
