Certified Group is a leading North American provider of laboratory testing and regulatory consulting services. They are currently looking for a Lab Assistant to perform basic laboratory tasks such as preparing samples for analysis, cleaning equipment, and maintaining inventory reports.

Responsibilities

Mix water, detergents, and/or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solution according to specifications

Wash, rinse, dry, and sterilize glassware and instruments

Scrub walls, floors, shelves, tables, and sinks

Fill tubes and bottles with specified solutions and apply identification labels

Arrange specimens and samples on trays to be placed in incubators and refrigerators

Deliver supplies and laboratory specimens to designated work areas

Maintain inventory reports and logs

Prepare and maintain bacteriological media and chemical solutions, utilizing proper labeling, handling, storage, use, and disposal of solutions, including autoclaved and hazardous waste

Use a grinder or other equipment to homogenize, extract, or otherwise prepare samples for analytical testing

Weigh samples and record values on logs

Assist with managing priorities and schedules such that individual goals as well as team goals are achieved with encouraged participation in the Food Safety Net Services Team

Responsible for the safety of oneself and others working within their area

Responsible for the completion of required training
