Responsibilities

Own end-to-end development of parafoils, reefing systems, and associated deceleration hardware
Establish materials selection, patterning, sewing, rigging methods, and hardware integration for parachute subsystems
Plan and execute demanding ground and flight test campaigns, from drop tests and field deployments to instrumentation and data-driven performance validation
Work closely with mechanical, avionics, and software teams to achieve robust system-level integration
Manage configuration, manufacturing specs, BOM, and test reports to ensure repeatability and knowledge transfer
Lay the groundwork for in-house capability expansion and future parachute engineering hires as we scale

Required

Bachelor's degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering or closely related field
Minimum 2 years of professional, hands-on parachute (or comparable decelerator) engineering experience: design, fabrication, and testing
Strong knowledge of parachute rigging techniques, deployment sequencing, decelerator dynamics (drag, stability, oscillation)
Demonstrated history of planning and running parachute or decelerator ground/flight test campaigns: instrumentation, data capture, and analysis
Excellent written and verbal skills for cross-disciplinary collaboration in a flat, startup team
Must meet ITAR requirements and be authorized to work in the US
Willing and able to work extended hours as needed, stand for extended periods, and travel 25% for field testing and integration

Preferred

Direct experience with guided parachute/parafoil systems or robotic aerial delivery solutions (JPADS, AirDrop, etc.)
Familiarity with pattern design tools (e.g., SpaceCAD, Lectra Modaris)
Knowledge of FAA flight test processes
Prior history with aerospace, military, or high-growth startups (e.g., Airborne Systems, SpaceX, Inversion Space, Outpost, etc.)
