Vice President of Safety and Compliance
TransForce is a company focused on safety and compliance within the transportation sector. The VP of Safety and Compliance will develop, implement, and manage safety programs while ensuring adherence to federal and state regulations, ultimately promoting a culture of safety across the organization.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute a comprehensive safety strategy, aligned with regulatory requirements, including programs to support TransForce’s safety record, training program, incident response, and compliance audits
Utilize data to drive continuous improvement in safety performance and work to improve upon TransForce’s current positive safety culture
Provide in-depth analysis of safety and compliance data and make recommendations for improvement
Lead the coaching and retraining initiatives for drivers flagged for unsafe behaviors or involved in incidents, using telematics and feedback data
Ensure consistent enforcement of safety policies and procedures across all branches and client sites
Coordinate and lead regular safety meetings and training sessions for drivers, staff and customers
Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, training, inspections, and compliance documentation
Analyze safety data trends including violations, incidents, and near misses to identify risk areas and recommend proactive improvement measures
Oversee internal investigations of all reportable accidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective measures with drivers and customers to prevent recurrence
Monitor and manage FMCSA Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) scores and develop strategies to improve safety performance
Develop and maintain emergency response protocols for accidents, hazardous materials incidents, and other critical events
Conduct regular internal audits and partner with clients to ensure safety standards are upheld in all placements
Oversee the compliance function and ensure adherence to FMCSA regulations and state specific laws
Monitor and advise on Hours of Service (HOS) compliance. Liaise with customer to address violations with corrective actions
Identify updates in federal, state, and local laws and work with operations and HR to develop and implement policies and programs (CA WVPP, FMCSA)
Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies and ensure timely reporting and resolution of safety incidents
Qualification
Required
Minimum twelve years' DOT Compliance experience required and solid understanding of FMCSR
Minimum seven years' leadership experience
Deep knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, CSA, regulations
Experience working with telematics and safety analytics tools
Proven track record of developing and implementing safety programs that reduce incidents and improve compliance
Knowledge of how driver leasing fits into compliance with DOT regulations
Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills
Ability to travel as needed to client sites and field offices
Excellent presentation skills
Excellent relationship building skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience
Preferred
Experience in a staffing or logistics environment strongly preferred
Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Director of Safety (CDS), or similar credential is a plus
